Our Story

When the first Hear the Music Night event happened in January of 1999 we could not have imagined that the event would continue for more than a decade and grow into something that drew the city together. After 80 events in Winnipeg alone, many Canadian and international tours, CD and DVD recordings and worship conferences, Hear the Music Ministries made the move to its new home in Vernon, BC. The Levite Summit was a prominent training conference hosted by HTM during 2013-2020 in BC and Alberta. HTM continues to grow and serve the greater church of Canada, through Worship Arts Canada, Hear the Music Nights, equipping and training events, and the Christy Maygard Memorial Scholarship.

As a registered non-profit, HTM relies on donations from supporters to carry out the mission and vision of the ministry. There is a small staff and overhead, and the cost of events is kept low so that they are accessible to all. Supporting HTM impacts the church across Canada, and equips artists and worship leaders to live in the fullness of their gifting and calling.

HTM is governed by a Board of Trustees, and continues to be directed by the founder Jon Buller, a Juno nominee and Christian recording artist.

HTM has mentored dozens of young and emerging music artists, many of whom have become prominent leaders in their music and ministry careers and received Juno awards and Grammy nominations. This group of artists includes Amanda Cook, Fresh.i.e, Starfield, Tim and the Glory Boys, Jon Neufeld, Alexa Dirks (Begonia), Love and the Outcome (Jodi and Chris Rademaker), Joey Landreth and Ryan Voth (Bros. Landreth), Jaylene Johnson, Richard & Krisjana Hale, and Raquel Cole.
